Caffe Della Salute - Nelson Mandela Square

The Church of Santa Maria Della Salute, a masterpiece of baroque ecclesiastical architecture, was built in thanksgiving for having restored Venice to good health after a devastating plague in 1629.

La Salute literally creates the entrance to the Grand Canal, giving it grandeur and authority - it's huge, white marbled dome makes it one of the most conspicuous monuments of Venice.
